Tohuwabohu - leg 2 Day 1

Leg 2 Day 1
It’s 22nd November and what an interesting week. The long story short is that following a very efficient PCR test which was organised in Mindelo marina, the world then fell apart in getting the results. It’s appears that as of yesterday the 80plus tests taken for COVID were left in box in a room , somewhere in CV(Cape Verde), and that despite some meetings and visits and various promises none of these came to fruition.

“Them rules is rules”kept floating through my head as the boat became a democracy for a few moment, stay or go?
We elected go..... based on the support from WCC and safe in the knowledge that if”stuff goes south” we can use sea quarantine and gets PCR test in Rodney Bay St Lucia.

We departed about 1 pm local to CV and headed out west. For us all on the boat the time we have to use on this childhood dream is precious. We all have loved ones and (cows) to get home to and any continued delay would mean we couldn’t connect with our BA flight.

We had a lovely little over night passage into day two. I don’t believe there was much sleep last night , no wind , sail set changes. It is comforting to know we have 7 good forecast days, boats in front of us and some boats that stayed in CV behind us.

Ultimately whilst everyone else is sleeping our minds get thrown back to why people do this. I can only say from my perspective ..... why not
