Well the day of The ARC 2021 has finally arrived and our start time of 13.00 meant an early start for us all. All those last minute jobs were completed and our friends Cathy and Sandy came down to wish us favourable winds and wave us off.
The crowds were gathered around the entrance to cheer us on as we sailed out to our start line, to port of the committee boat supplied by the Spanish Navy.
We soon left the busy start line on a starboard tack beat into a 10 knot southerly. Looks like we will be heading a long way south to pick up the trade winds.
Unfortunately the wind died off forcing us and most of the fleet to motor for a while. Dugald treated us to his sausage and chick pea casserole with mash. A real treat on the open sea. We saw the last of Gran Canaria and lost our 4G connection. Now we are down to our iridium satellite system.
