Today was undoubtedly a slow day. In fact the most
exciting event was when we tacked, at around 3:45PM. We didn't do much before
that, the manoeuvre lasted maybe a minute, and then we didn't have
much else to do for the rest of the day.
I decided to go around the boat asking everyone what
they were up to. But not the humans -most of those were sleeping- but rather the
personified objects that travel with us.
I went near the bow and saw Marvin the tender, deflated
and contortionated inside his case. Like the galactic robot that inspired his
name, he still found a way to complain and let out a depressed sigh when I sat
on it to watch the waves.
At the back hard at work were Carola and Siuzy. Carola
is the autopilot, brave but strong minded. We let her steer the boat sometimes,
but have to accept that she ultimately decides which harbor we are going to.
Siuzy the wind turbine gives us plenty of electricity,
at the cost of sounding like a giant mosquito flying behind us.
Patrick is our pink fishing bait, but he's not very
smart under the sea because we haven't fished anything yet. These days he sits by Samantha, our astronaut crew. She always
watches the sea but seems to have a particular interest in the stars at
night.
Finally there is Geoffrey the water maker, who lives
inside a cupboard by the toilet. Despite these harsh conditions, he does his job
dutifully, inspired perhaps by a certain majordome in Bel Air.
