Northern Light II - Saturday 25th November

1145 miles is roughly half way to Grenada. There was much discussion yesterday on what we might do to celebrate the half way mark with most of the crew voting to break the dry boat rule. Skipper ruled that at 5pm we could have a gin and tonic with appetisers to toast our achievement.

Sarah and Geertje not only did a bit of yoga in the morning but also did a relaxation session on the foredeck this afternoon. Cat and Tom continued reading their books with Tom doing his second Focaccia today. Fishing continued but other than then normal weed we did manage to catch a floating rope! A boat within 2 miles of us has caught 8 fish including a tuna with the same line and lures so I hope our luck turns …….

All was going to plan until Tom discovered a small tear (about 2cm) in the parasailor just as the drinks were being poured. Down it came, repairs were made on board and up it went again for the evening. Toasts were made with fairy lights twinkling in the background and a very beautiful sunset. Discussions took place on what was the stand out moment from the first half and all agreed that going back to help Hilma was something that we would all remember.

The next 1145 miles will represent more of challenge. Fresh fruit and vegetables have all now been used up, with the last vegetables going into a risotto this evening. We’ll continue to make fresh yogurt and bread most days and we’ll have to get creative with the dried goods.

Until tomorrow

Michael
