Cassini - Blog#60 - 26th November

Whoop whoop!

A day of celebration:
We are over half way to Grenada, looking at miles to go!
We have less than 1000 miles to go to the corner of Grenada.
Wrexham won 6-0, making at least one senior officer very happy,
And the wind is blowing!

All this means we are a happy crew, so we started with cooked breakfast, eggs, bacon and beans. Even in the tropics you can't beat an English breakfast. Then a celebratory cold beer for lunch, which tasted l-o-v-e-l-y! Cant wait for a few more of those when we finish!!!
Then before lunch it was my first chance to practice my bread making skills. Having practiced many times at home, and once in Las Palmas, I felt the pressure was on. At first it looked like it could have been a disaster, but then, with a bit more flour, and despite the sweaty palms, it all came together, and the final result was more than edible. In fact with the extra fish Dirks caught today, it hardly lasted at all, and no one's been ill yet!

The celebratory atmosphere has continued with a shower for all. Using the 10 litre portable solar shower, we all managed to wash, even if Sarah needed more than the rest of the crew combined (but she probably does have more hair to wash than the rest of us put together!).

Later excitement was had in the cockpit, with pilates, yoga, and The Beach Boys being played loud enough to disturb our neighbours (even if they don't show up on the 12 mile radar). Watching full grown men surfing on the cockpit table was a bit surreal.

Personally, my symbiotic relationship with the other woman on the boat (who I am sure you have read about before) continues to improve, and with only the most minimal tweeking I am getting her to point in the right direction.

In fact, the only dissent today was declared as we enjoyed our 3 course meal of fish, pasta and pud, when it was said that two gybes in a day was just exhausting!!! Oh, its so hard out here with the sun, breeze and good company. Its a shame it will come to an end soon.
