Sunday 26th November .
The most exciting news of today is that we caught a 6ft Atlantic Blue Marlin! Just a baby according to google (they can grow to 14ft!). After just a 40min fight, Rich reeled him in & after much work filleting we’ve now got fish for weeks! #
Also fun - it’s shower day! We cranked up the generator, made some more water &; everyone was able to wash off the smell of freshly caught fish in style! Currently we’re on a shower-every-3-days schedule.. seems to be working out well. No one is getting too stinky or unpopular.
Other highlights included laying on the trampolines reading &; watching the waves, bringing out the Week 2 Snacks Bag, averting another near disaster when a pin had come free from a shackle but was found rolling back n forth on the solar panels (phew!) and more mahi sashimi for lunch, caught yesterday.
Oh and luckily we were warned by Robin from Blue Jolene about exploding watermelons! I inspected ours &; found one on the verge. Managed to salvage most of it to be chopped up &; put in the fridge. So lucky, can’t live without our freshly blended mixed juice. Two papayas left, a load of bananas rapidly ripening, green apples & pears. Have had to chop, bag & refrigerate all the carrots to keep them hydrated, & freeze all the mango & avocado as they both all went soft at the same time. Cucumbers fairing well, zucchinis, eggplants & peppers are suffering a little. Cabbages, oranges, mandarins & rock melons all just fine..
Never a dull moment, there’s always something to do even on a Sunday.
Tonight’s dinner was thoughtfully prepared by Lynnie, and she served up a beautiful Moroccan chicken, chickpea & vegetable curry. Honestly, it was AMAZING.
Uno out.
