Hummingbird blog 04 12
Life is going well on the good ship Hummingbird.
Yesterday's 24 hour run was 202nM and we are on course to beat that again.
Today is Charles (Chip) birthday, reaching the magical number of 60 and thereby surpassing the age his ancestors reached, Happy Birthday Chip!!
After a good run yesterday with the occasional cloud rushing over our heads, we were greeted by some rain squalls too, that we anticipated on our radar screen. Some were heavy enough to make us close the companion way to stop the rain entering.
The sea state makes for a rock and roll rodeo ride for the last 36 hours, making it a great challenge to execute galley duties, and once in a while items become airborne and projectiles for any on its path.
This morning we shook out reef two, that gave us another knot of boat speed, making sure we stay ahead of our compadres on Bluejay
Todays Chefs, El and Craig are back on it, having produced a chocolate cake last night in celebration of our birthday boy and are cracking on creating fresh bread and a fantastic lunch of roast veggies.
Life is good on our ship, as we speed towards our destination!
Hummingbird out!
