Friday 6th
December
Today has been a relatively quiet day on the journey towards St
Lucía, so let me take this opportunity to introduce you to the people onboard
Bluejay. We have the much talented duo of skipper Alex and 1st mate
Phoebe who are both experienced and reassuring on what is for the rest of us a
long awaited challenge - all of us are old enough to be their parents but
respect is given to these young ladies for the calm manner in which they drive
us and Bluejay towards the Caribbean. First up are the new bromance pair Chris
and Mike who have a very special bond involving late night chats, giggling
whilst cooking together, catching/filleting fish and much conversation on who is
the better helm. Next we have the
long standing friendship pair of the girls from Yorkshire, Pennie and Jude, they
have regaled us with stories of their trips on flotillas and enjoyment of a
little tipple here and there. Also
onboard we have the much travelled previous Clipper crew Rowena who must be one
of the most beloved Rubicon customers with the number of trips she has
previously taken. Yann a Frenchman
not keen on garlic, drifts in on time for meals, cake and fruit and seems at
home on the boat as only a man from Britanny can. Today we have celebrated national Finnish
day with our crew member Janne, a very quiet and kind man who has likened parts
of this trip to military service!
Next up is Andrew from America who has kept us entertained with his dry
wit and observations of life onboard.
And I am Karen, who has enjoyed meeting all members of this bluejay team
and is thoroughly enjoying this crossing.
Heres hoping tomorrow continues with fine winds and much
fun.
