On Nuka Hiva we climbed up the royal road (an ancient path) which must have been an immense undertaking. The road leads to the waterfalls mentioned yesterday. All along the road hidden in the undergrowth there are places for religious festivals, tohuas and large stone platforms for meetings paepae etc. The road was built for King Te Moana and Queen Vaekuhu. They were presumably inspired by the 100 foot waterfall and the 2,500 feet cliffs that surround it.
We are halfway to the Tumautus now and have been getting some very good boat speeds averages in excess of 8 knots. So we hope to be there tomorrow afternoon if the wind stays as good as this
All the best
