Wizard - On our way to Tuamotu's atolls

Today sees us sailing from Nuku Hiva having spent a wonderful last evening in one of the northern anchorages, Anse HakaPaa. We sailed in around 3 p.m. having just landed a decent sized yellow fin tuna. As soon as the anchor was down a solo sailor Frank Groh came over and introduced himself to Gerrie as he had seen the South African flag and was from the RNYE in South Africa. Having plenty of tuna onboard we invited Frank to dinner and jumped in the dinghy eager to explore the small bay.

There was little there, nice beaches, a few houses, dogs, ducks and horses, but no-one seemed to be in. After exploring the island we were on our way back to the boat when we met 2 local guys sitting by the beach. Raymond and Alfonso, complete with guitar, ukulele and bucket with 2 glasses and 2 cartons of wine in it. An invite to come back to the boat and play music in return for dinner was accepted and a great evening was had by all...except maybe Raymond. Frank loved hot sauce and passed it to Raymond who promptly poured it over his dinner not realising how hot it was, his face was a picture. They were supposed to leave for 8p.m. or they would be in trouble from their wives but at 9 they were still onboard, drinking whiskey, playing music and having a great time.

The following morning we swapped some clothes for some plantation and banana stalks, coconuts, lemons and mangoes. Fully loaded we set sail to the Tuamotu's atolls, expecting to arrive on Wednesday.
