Hi from Skipper
Steve.
We are now just 24 hrs from St Helena after a slow
but very comfortable passage. The trade winds did not fill until yesterday
morning and so we have experienced slight winds with Kasuje being seriously
underpowered. This has placed us to the rear of the fleet but the compensation
is many hours of undisturbed sleep and a bruiseless cruise.!
All is well on board, Bruce, Angela and Nick are in
good spirits especially as we are now making good time under a much
stronger breeze. Bruce was getting particularly concerned at one stage, that we
wouldn't make St Helena for Easter.!!! Nikko, as yet, has not managed to poison us, but his latest offering of
fried flying fish wings ,sautéed in tooth paste came close..!! Angela is
keeping us all sane and keeps "her boys" in tight order and under
control.
We are not sure of what to expect from the teeming
metropolis which is St Helena, will it be a tropical paradise or a lump of bleak
volcanic rock? B & A have friends on the island (these farmers get
everywhere) and we are expecting a very friendly welcome as the islanders
receive few visitors and reputably live a very simple life. (Sounds good to
me.) We have brought a wind up torch for their friend as a small gift from
us, it was extremly difficult thinking of a present for a person we don't
know well and certainly do not know how they live. But we hope it will be
appropriate.
So just a short log for once as all is well on
board the good ship Kasuje and we will report on our findings of this very
isolated island in the middle of the South Atlantic.
Kindest Regards
Skipper
Steve
