Cleone anchored off Jamestown at 0430 on 16 January 2009.
We've not yet convinced the Skipper that No, the capital of St Helena was
not named after him as it's much older (would you believe) even than he
is. We're working on it, and will report later on how far we have
succeeded in disillusioning him.
The last few miles, as ever, seemed to take ages. In a way we missed
out not making a landfall during daylight, but in the bright moon-light it was
impressive to see the mountains looming closer and closer, and finally to be
able to make out the swell crashing against the cliffs as we made our way around
the North of the Island and into the Bay.
We will report further later. We acquire a new crew member here,
Mandy Parker, the World ARC events manager; she will be with us until
Salvador.
Meanwhile, all is well with us, and very best wishes to you all.
