Crazy Horse - Hiva Oa Day 5

We went on a very exciting drive around the island today with Jim and Ana of Ocean Jasper and all the crew from Noeluna. We traveled around winding and edge of the cliff roads all the way to the archeological site. We had two women taxi drivers who were quite adept at traversing the rocky ledges. The lunch consisted of goat meat, beef, and tuna cerviche, rice, different kinds of bananas, fried breadfruit, and a tapioca dessert. It was wonderful and quite typical of the food here. However, Bill was ready for an old fashioned cheeseburger when we returned.

Everyone has 4 wheel vehicles around here because of the road conditions. No one drives around here til 20 . We are planning on leaving in the am for Fatu Hiva which is 40 miles south of Hiva Oa. We will probably be traveling with some of the other ARC boats. A Lady, Eowyn, and Ocean Jasper will accompany us to see some of the other islands of the Marquesas. I am sure that we will see many of the other boats along the way. I will be glad to leave this rolly anchorage even though I have enjoyed the people here, reuniting with the ARC participants, and doing some sightseeing and shopping.

Bristol Rose is coming toward us toward Galapogas. I know they are anxious to catch up with us as we are with them. We will have a much more quiet anchorage and less swells in Fatu Hiva. It is supposed to be one of the most beautiful anchorages in the world.

Rosemary, Bill and Matt
