Wind Dancer -

What a great start we had for our first day beginning the cross of the Caribbean Sea.  Fine winds allowed for boat speed to reach above and beyond what was planned, which you can never complain of.  A couple hours out on the jib and mains’l and it was time to try to get a better wind angle so out came the reaching pole for some wing on wing action.  This worked a dream for the ultimate performance for dead down windsailing, lasting on the starboard tack through the day and just before dinner on the second evening when a gybe was necessary.

Shirts were off and books were opened and it was time to relax and enjoy. The majority of the trip was sailed on the goose wing, with a short reach brought into the mix on the third night to allow for less rocking and pleasant dreams.  All dinners were enjoyed on deck at sunset offering the best al fresco dining possible. There was some strong weather towards the end of the trip off of Columbia but that just allowed the ol’ Wind Dancer to reach 15 knots!!

We arrived to the beautiful islands of the San Blas in the late morning Saturday just to be cautious of the shallow waters surrounding the laden palm tree beaches.

Journey one is complete and we are more than happy to enjoy our time here, visit with our fellow voyagers and prepare for the transit through the Panama Canal.
