We arrived at Contadora Island yesterday afternoon just in time for the skippers' briefing for the restart to the Galapagos. We had a very pleasant sail for the 35 miles we covered, had to motor a short way at the beginning and again at the end. After the briefing there was a beach-side cocktail party for all participants. The girls were happy to catch-up with Sam and Sarah, digging large holes on the beach and tending to a very large bonfire which had been prepared for the party.
Early this morning Corinne and the girls went ashore for a walking tour of the island, scheduled to start at 7:15 before the temperature and humidity make outdoor activities difficult. This evening is the rally dinner before everyone departs tomorrow at noon. The weather forecast is for good sailing conditions for the first day-or-two, then light and variable winds to our destination. We are beginning this leg with all systems up and running (watermaker, DC generator, new batteries, autopilot remote control,etc) and are hoping for an uneventful passage.
