We managed to cover 200 Nautical miles in a 24 Hour
session today and almost made 400 Nm in 48hours (good going). The other
lead boats have headed more northerly than us in search of stronger
winds however we opted to carry on in possibly lighter but improving winds
directly towards Horta avoiding an incoming low pressure system from the
north. We are now plodding (8Kts)into a steady current but are expecting
better winds by the morning. We think we may lose some ground but we would
rather not take the beating of possible gale force winds and associated
seas the other boats may run into. Hey ho we will know more in the morning
(just after I actually send this blog) At the end of today 18th May we
would have covered about 490 Nautical miles in total with 1317 of 1790
remaining. On the up side today's sailing was relaxing with pleasant
weather and we were all able to have well deserved and needed showers.
