Ibiza is a wonderful place and has kept his original
charmed landscape. Still they have trees left, not so in Mallorca. A lot of
forest has gone, because of the touris and also affected of fire. The whole
coast from Ibiza has beautiful bays where you can anchoring free. This is what
we have done. Palma de Mallorca is also a sightseeing worth.
So we enjoy the stay here in one of the bays. Sometimes
together with other sailors, sometime alone.
Beside sailing around, I prepare the inventory for the ARC
2012. It is important, to know what we have on board, what we should take with
us, what kind of spare parts or gas bottles we should carrying with us etc. For
example, the camping gas you get in Martinique and also in St. Lucia, not so on
other islands. With 4 bottles I had enough gas from St. Lucia over Caicos/Turks
to the Acores. This time, I take one more with me, because I like to bake
sometimes fresh bread...
Rodney Bay in St. Lucia has good maintenance and
facilities, boatyard etc., also Le Marin and Siint Maarten. But be sure you have
some spare parts with you. For e.g. if you have a Volvo Penta Engine take oil
filter etc. with you. A very good mechanic is Egbert Charles in Rodney Bay. On
other places *if not Siint Maarten or Grenada* you will find mechanic companies
but not the spare parts...
