The sea is the texture of a silk scarf, occasionally slashed by the dragging tails of flying fish as they flee from Anastasia. All very picturesque but not much use for a sailing vessel trying to get to Bali before the diesel runs out. We have enough fuel remaining for about 24 more hours of motoring (about half the remaining distance) and then we will just have to sit around and wait for some wind to come.
All day we have had between 2 and 4 knots of wind directly from behind. The forecast was for 16 to 20 knots this afternoon. So much for weather forecasts.
The only positive is that we have steak and chips for dinner. Plus, I guess, it was a warm sunny day, we didn't break anything and we are making reasonable progress towards Bali even if we are having to motor. On a long windless passage like this it is easy to let your irritation at the absence of wind distorts your perspective.
