The Lancelot II crew have bonded well and has been split into watches –
Jacko, with John, Oscar and Ryan and Sam with
Jack, Neil and Peter
The boat is prepared with a lot of water on board as unfortunately the
water maker did not make it to Gran Canaria in time ( it was faulty and sent
back to Italy and was promised to be return in time !!!!!
We had a great crew dinner last night which was a sober affair compared to
previously nights activities – the G & T’s whilst nice are rather large with
also some late night / early morning activities !!!!
The weather system here in Gran Canaria is very complex with a low pressure
approaching us
The cruising class is postponed till Tuesday
However, us racers are still starting at 12.45 – last night it was 90% that
we would continue
However, we have just had a crew meeting and the current decision is to
start the race, sail towards the South of the Island and then potentially a) log
our position, head back to Las Palmas and sit out the worst of it, with a
potential re start 36 – 48 hours later, which would then mean sailing in trade
winds and sunshine to St Lucia ( Jacko believes this delay would cost us circa
12 hours overall ) or b) continue and be in squalls / rain, high winds and high
seas for 5 days or so
The crew are keen to get out on the water and start
sailing........so........watch this space for further updates
Love and regards to all at home
