Yes, we are now back in the Atlantic! We
gybed around Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of the African
continent, an hour ago, closely followed by yacht Brizo. We have had
brilliant sunshine and an easterly wind of around 30 knots to push us
along. The waves have been quite boisterous so we have just been
taking it easy, with a double reef in the mainsail, cruising at about
8 knots.
We are now heading back up north, hugging the
western coast of Africa so the mainland will give us some protection from wind
and waves and hopefully the weather will get warmer with every mile
travelled. We are not accustomed to this cold wind. Everyone was
drinking hot soup today.
