Day 13
We want more
wind!
“Mayday, mayday, mayday, we require immediate assistance
of much more wind”
After some pretty tough weeks with loads of wind and
fabulous sailing, ONE quiet day without wind was fine and actually
appreciated.
The SECOND day (yesterday) with flat sea, steaming heat
and not even a sign of wind was OK and to live with.
A THIRD day (today) is NOT. This night has basically
been without wind and very HOT, not giving us much hope for a windy day - but
finally, this morning we gained some breeze and are sailing again. We are
cruising away in 4-5 knots or so, with winds of 10-13 knots – hoping that we
will reach 20-25 during the day (and for the rest of this journey).
We have now covered more than 2/3 of the total distance
of 2700 miles and have approximately 800 miles to go. Wind or not wind, the
distanced covered was something to celebrate yesterday evening –AND we do
celebrate on board whatever there is to celebrate. After a nice dinner, Emily
had made us a wonderful chocolate cake (called Polish cake). Delicious! In
Facebook vocabulary it would probably be 8 likes for the dinner and the same for
the cake.
In my vocabulary I will add eight “dislikes” for the
lack of wind.
The weather forecast is positive, giving us hope for
plenty of wind and nice sailing for the days ahead of us.
