Mad Fish - Gear Failure
On day 2 we suffered a major blow when in a broach we pulled the spinnaker pole fitting and the bottom bit of track off the mast. Not to be put off, we jury rigged this and it has been fine since. Up until yesterday. We were running downwind in 25 knots of wind with a reef in and a poled out part furled genoa when we got spun through 90 degrees by a monster wave. The genoa went aback and the jury rigged pole fitting came off the mast with another 2 ft of track!
We are now running with no headsails under full main feeling a little under powered and frustrated as there is not long until the finish which still looks like friday but is in danger of being pushed back into darkness which would be a shame.
342 miles to go......Can smell the rum.
