World Cruising Club wins award for Atlantic Rally for Cruisers

Andrew Bishop receives the award from the Minister

World Cruising Club has been presented with an award at the St. Lucia Tourist Board's twelfth annual gala awards dinner at the Landmark Hotel, London, for its contribution to the yachting industry in St. Lucia, and, in particular, for the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC), now in its twentieth year.

Announced as a special award at the dinner for the St.Lucia travel industry by the Director of the St. Lucia Tourist Board, Mr Peter Hilary Modeste, and presented by The Hon. Philip J. Pierre, Minister for Commerce, Tourism, Investment, and Consumer Affairs and Mr Costello Michelle, Chairman of St.Lucia Tourist Board, the Award was received by Andrew Bishop, Director World Cruising Club, organisers of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers.

Mr Modeste commented: "The yachting industry is an important part of St. Lucia's tourism industry and we are pleased to recognise World Cruising Club for their contribution to the sector with the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers which brings in excess of 200 yachts to St. Lucia every December".

In response, Andrew Bishop commented: "The ARC is our flagship event and it is especially appropriate that the ARC has been recognised in this, its 20th year. Following the 15th ARC finish in St. Lucia last December, Rodney Bay St. Lucia is firmly established as the home of the ARC in the Caribbean."

ARC 2005 currently has 128 entries from 10 nations, and is set to be a very special anniversary event.
