ARC boats continue to arrive in Las Palmas

12 November 2013

Muelle Deportivo continues to steadily fill with ARC boats; roughly 180 have arrived so far and the remaining boats are expected in the coming days. The docks are busy with new crew arrivals eagerly stepping aboard as they begin their preparations for the start on Sunday 24 November.

Yesterday saw the first Sundowner drinks get-together in the Federacion Vela, next to the ARC Offices. About 200 people came along to enjoy a beer and a chat, and JP Butchers and Hermanos Alonso from the central market put on a great spread of local meats and Canarian potatoes to taste. The central market is a popular place to provision the boat, and many of the traders are very used to helping yachts and will deliver to the marina.

There is another Sundowner tonight, supported by Embotelladora de Canarias with free sampling of fruit juices, soft drinks and other products. Embotelladora de Canarias offer a drinks order and delivery service for ARC boats, saving the need to carry heavy provisions back from the supermarkets.
