During the last couple of days the World ARC yachts have been gathering at the delightful Marigot Bay Marina, Saint Lucia, to enjoy a social programme ashore and to prepare for the Parade of Sail to Rodney Bay on Saturday, which marks the end of World ARC 2012/13. For the last few weeks the boats have been enjoying a free cruising period visiting wonderful anchorages in the Windward Islands but they are now benefiting from being alongside in the marina.
The fun began this evening with a Barbaoke (mix of barbeque and karaoke) organised by the management team at Marigot Bay. After a few weeks of free cruising there was a bit of catching up to do, as well as meeting old friends who were involved in previous legs of the Rally and who have flown in to re-join their boats as crew for the end of Rally festivities.
The eighteen boats which are already in Marigot Bay will be joined by Royal Leopard tomorrow. Tomorrow will be another party night and a great opportunity to catch up and enjoy the moment. The end of the Rally can be a time for reflection on the challenge of sailing around the world and the crews have much to celebrate.
