Underway to Lagos

The departure from Sta Maria, in the Azores was last Sunday and after four days, all the yachts that made the start are now over half way to Lagos, in the south of Portugal. A few crews have chosen not to sail to Lagos and these include Caiman who are now taking some days in Horta, Peat Smoke who left the Azores today heading to Northern Europe and Ayama and Alice in Red who are already making good progress to the UK.

Good spirits on board are reported through the boats’ logs that you can follow by clicking here.

“Last night was quiet & peaceful. We changed course to head east, and with 10-12 kts of wind we speed along averaging 7.5 kts across a calm sea..... I slept like a baby! (...) the clouds are beginning to clear and I think it will be another afternoon on the tramps topping up the tan!!“ David on Easy Rider

Azzurra is about 400 miles from Portugal so we decided to have a half-way party. Got out our hats and party favors and Dawn made her famous boat drinks” The crew from Azzurra

A busy programme awaits the crews in the Marina de Lagos with a Happy Hour on Saturday followed by a crew supper on the beach. On Sunday, ARC Europe formally comes to a close with a Dinner, sponsored by the Marina de Lagos, and Prize Giving.
