Following on from a great ARC+ Welcome Party last night, at the marina’s El Atico Bar, Sunday was intended to be a lighter day in the ARC+ programme of organised activities. However, the ARC Shop, and the ARC+ Check In & safety team staff have all been busy today, helping crews prepare for their Atlantic crossing. Last night’s party was a great opener to the social side of the ARC+ programme with a great venue and a lively atmosphere as crews got to know one another.
By the end of Sunday, 42 ARC+ boats will have arrived at their berths in Muelle Deportivo in Las Palmas and 37 of those will have been Checked In with the ARC+ team, to receive their welcome information packs and event ‘goodies’. With so many ARC+ boats in the marina, the atmosphere is already building, ahead of the fleet’s departure in 7 days’ time. The activity on the docks is also rising as crews get to know one another and complete their pre departure jobs.

Having been busy around the marina for the last few days, several crews are planning to take an inland tour tomorrow, to the ARC Forest project in the mountains of Gran Canaria. This environmental project, which is now in its 3rd year, seeks to reforest a piece of the island’s landscape and help offset the environmental impact of using a motor when crossing the Atlantic. Its also a great way for crews to get to know one another and enjoy some of this island's diverse landscapes.
Following tomorrow’s trip to the ARC+ forest, there will be a crew supper for all ARC+ crews – another opportunity to start to get to know on another before leaving Las Palmas next Sunday.
