ARC+ making great progress

ARC+ making great progress

The ARC+ are now well into their Atlantic passage leaving behind them the fond memories of the beautiful Cape Verdes Archipelago. The trade winds have been pushing the boats along at a good speed as they enjoy some great downwind sailing. The fleet are already over 300NM from Mindelo so are making very good progress.

Yacht La Rochelle (AUS) broke their gooseneck about 30NM out from Sao Vicente and made the decision to return to make repairs, having motor sailed around Santo Antao back to Mindelo over night. Colin and his crew moored up again inside the marina slightly deflated however determined to get under way as soon as possible. Kai Brossman came to inspect the damage and was able to make repairs immediately allowing the boat to head off at 1800 local time on Thursday 21 November. They aim to catch up with the bulk of the fleet and arrive to St Lucia in good time.

‘Kai and the staff here at Marina Mindelo have been miracle workers, we genuinely thought we were going to be here for at least 4 days waiting for spare parts to arrive’ – Colin Pruden, La Rochelle.

Logs from the boats at sea have begun to pour in as crews reflect on their time in the Cape Verdes.

'what an amazing time we have had in Mindelo, we have all thoroughly enjoyed our time there and had some fantastic meals out in various recommended cafés and restaurants, and met so many lovely people' - Susie, Joy of Shamrock Quay
