A warm World ARC welcome to all...

It has been another busy day here in Rodney Bay Marina as The World ARC fleet continues to grow. 25 boats have now checked in with the rally team, receiving their welcome pack, some important information and gaining an insight into what exciting tours and activities are in store for the future.

Already on the docks, friendly crews have greeted their neighbors as they begin to form what will become long lasting friendships. World Cruising Club know that a few complimentary rum punches and a friendly venue is all you need to help sailors get to know one another better so a World ARC welcome drinks reception was held in the Bread Basket Café within the marina to get the ‘ball rolling.

Just over 120 participants enjoyed a fine evening of mingling whilst the drinks flowed and some tapas style food was served. Event Manager for World ARC Paul Tetlow welcomed the fleet to the event, congratulated them on what they have all achieved thus far and thanked them for all their support and positive feedback as they begin an adventure to remember. Participants had the opportunity to talk with each other expressing their excitement and apprehensions about what lies ahead but in general it was a very positive evening and one that continued into the night.

Looking forward, preparations such as registration, safety equipment check and fitting of the Yellowbricks all continue tomorrow to ensure everyone is ready for the start. For some crews, tomorrow (Tuesday) will be a day off from their usual routines as they take go on the Rainforest Canopy Adventure Tour in the south east of Saint Lucia. Its an exhilarating activity as participants zip through the jungle canopy on high lines wires from platform to platform – not for the feint hearted!
