A look into the future

The World ARC participants have been receiving a lot of information throughout the day as briefings have been delivered about what lays in store for them over the next few months. This morning's talks outlined the structure and operations of the Rally and also how crews could maximise their circumnavigation experience with World ARC. World Cruising Club weatherman, Chris Tibbs, then outlined some weather tips and what conditions would typically be expected on the route.

'It gave me goosebumps looking through the slideshow of what lies ahead.. like a look into my future, it looked amazing' Ross Hendersson, Yacht Dasha Way

Images and slides were displayed of what to expect from the Panama Canal, The Galapagos Islands and cruising the French Polynesian Islands. It is certainly enough to wet ones appetite

There are 32 yachts now assembled in Rodney Bay Marina so the fleet is almost complete for the start to Panama on Saturday 11 January. The atmosphere, excitement and anticipation is building as the last minute jobs and tasks are completed before heading West.

A World ARC rally photograph was taken on the lawn with all crews here in Rodney Bay representing over 30 boats and 19 different nationalities. It was great to have all participants together in one place for one photograph, something that may never happen again as crews come and go throughout the event.

After a full day of seminars and receiving a lot of information, what better way to top it off with a drinks party put on by IGY Rodney Bay Marina held at the social hub ‘The Boardwalk Bar’. This event is typically a very popular evening and allows participants to further strengthen what is becoming a noticeably close bond amongst one another. Crew will be rewarded with a drink or two at the Boardwalk inside the marina complex.

Most of the crews are planning provisioning trips during Thursday before the Skipper’s Briefing and Farewell Party on Friday and the start on Saturday at midday.
