Day Two

Day Two - On the programme today was the Ladies Round Table, plenty more safety equipment inspections and Yellowbrick trackers have been installed on all of the boats here so far.  There's also plenty of time to lay out at the pool or the beach which are just a stone's throw away from the pontoons.

The Ladies Round Table was an addition to the programme this year as it proves popular at the start of the ARC Caribbean 1500.  It's a chance for the ladies to get together and have a chat about some of their ideas, stories, home schooling the kids, tips for life at sea and any concerns they might have whilst living onboard.

The safety equipment checks contiued today and over half of the boats have now completed those.  Part of the checklist is the flares, which are checked for the correct number being carried onboard, that they are stored in a watertight container with goggles and gloves, easily accessible and also in date.  If any are out of date they can be disposed of safely at the flare demonstration in the morning.  The flare demo is a chance for participants to see live flare firing and also a chance to have a go themselves at firing one off.  Keep an eye out for the photos in the gallery tomorrow.

Tonight there are some sundowner drinks hosted at Captain Mulligan's sports bar, the manager Randy welcomes all the visiting yachts to come and lime and stay for dinner, it's a great place to stretch the legs and step onto the mainland!   Many people might not be aware that Nanny Cay is actually three small islands connected to mainland Tortola by a small bridge at the entrance to the marina!  For more history on Nanny Cay visit the following page http://nannycay.com/a-brief-history-of-nanny-cay/
