Mauruuru and Nana to French Polynesia

The second group of World ARC boats departed Bora Bora today, following those who started on Sunday,  to continue the journey westwards. There were reasonable south easterly winds of about 10-14 knots and the sun finally appeared to light up the splendid backdrop of Bora Bora. It was a competitive start with several boats crossing the line within 30 seconds of the starting horn, providing crews and passengers on the nearly cruise ship, an exciting spectacle to enjoy.

This morning’s start followed a great final farewell party last night at the MaiKai Yacht Club in Bora Bora where the World ARC fleet have found a second home during the last week. The barbeque buffet was excellent and the infinity poolside setting, overlooking the yachts moored nearby, made for a memorable evening. Of course with food, music and drinks, several enjoyed a cool down in the pool to complete a wonderful evening.

The World ARC fleet have been in French Polynesia for almost 8 weeks. During that time they have seen some wonderful places, had some memorable experiences and have got to meet and know some special people. French Polynesia has been a great place to spend 2 months of the World ARC route and the crews sail away with many happy memories. However, there is more of the world to see and the crews must surely look forward to chalking up the same memories in the next stopovers of Niue and Tonga.
