The Search for the Crew of the Cheeki Rafiki

Following the announcement by the US Coastguard that the upturned hull of the Cheeki Rafiki has been located, and the SAR operation ended, all boats have now resumed course towards Horta in the Azores.

Before the search was called off, a US Navy diver had confirmed that no crew were on board the vessel and that the liferaft had not been deployed.

The involvement of yachts from the rally has given hope and comfort to the families of the crew and the world has seen how sailors rally around to help each other in times of distress. On behalf of the families and sailors everywhere, our thanks go to all those involved.

As the sun sets tonight, we invite sailors everywhere, at sea or on land, to have a silent minute to remember the four crew of the Cheeki Rafiki.
