First arrivals in Horta

After a few days in Horta getting the office ready and preparing for the arrival of the fleet, the first boat is now just a couple of hours away.  Tosca passed to the north of Flores and Corvo and is expected to pass the finish line today by 1230 local time after 11 days at sea.

We are expecting as well later in the evening Ballytrim and Aurora (NL). Both boats will have a close finish after the long Leg 2, although Aurora had a slight head start leaving Bermuda a day early.  They are ahead of a group of 6 boats composed of Defyr, Easy Rider, Malisi, Sparta II and Wedster supposed to arrive later on Monday 26th.

The team is ready to welcome the yachts as well as the owner of Peter Café Sport, Jose Azevedo, who will be pleased after having a fresh cold beer in the terrasse to guide you around his scrimshaw museum as we did today for the first time after all these years being in Horta. You will then be aware of the history of this famous bar known all over the Atlantic and why you as many others like Commandant Cousteau, Tabarly and Moitissier stopped here before the next stop of your voyage across the Atlantic.
