Across the border to Portugal

This morning the ARC Portugal 2016 fleet left the Monte Real Club de Yates in Bayona and made their way to the 1030 start line, for Leg 2 of the rally from Bayona to Povoa de Varzim in Portugal. As the yachts made their way out of the bay they had a south west wind of 10 to 12 knots which should increase later as they progress down the coast of Spain and across the border to Portugal. The wind might also back up to west as the afternoon goes on. The boats will be arriving early evening today at Povoa de Varzim, where once again the rally team will be there to greet them.

First across the line this morning was Guy Taylor's Southerly 42RST “Saving Grace II” followed closely by Steven Leach's Dufour 40 Performance “With Dignity”. The leading boats got some speed as they headed towards and across the line. We hope the fleet have a good sail south and we’ll be saying “bem-vindo a Portugal” next time we see them.
