On 30 December 2018 the World ARC 2018 office opened its doors in IGY Rodney Bay Marina. Surrounded by 'veterans' of ARC and ARC+ 2017, new arrivals for World ARC have begun the process of checking in, safety inspections and preparations for an adventure of a lifetime.
As usual for ARC events, the hard work is also accompanied by a full social programme and plenty of other opportunities for crews to get to know each other and their fellow World ARC participants from other yachts.
At the Welcome Drinks last night, World Cruising's Operations Director Andy Bristow welcomed everyone to
Rodney Bay and introduced the Yellow Shirt staff team who will accompany the fleet around the world.
If the community atmosphere from this first event prevails throughout the Rally, World ARC 2018 promises to be a very special vintage indeed. Tonight is, of course, New Year's Eve and an impromptu dock party has already been organised by a cohort of enterprising participants for all to enjoy before crews move on to take advantage of other parties and events being organised in the vicinity of the Marina and Rodney Bay to see in the New Year.
Next week the safety inspection programme will continue whilst Skippers and Crew are offered the benefit of advice and tips for their forthcoming voyage at the World ARC seminars given by World Crusing's team of resident experts.
