The timings of ARC Europe and the ARC ensure that the best use is made of prevailing weather systems, and that yachts are away from the Caribbean before the hurricane season. An Atlantic circuit is perfect for crews taking a sabbatical from work, as it cane be completed in 12 months.
From Europe
For European yachts, the ARC has been the classic transatlantic crossing for 25 years, and is a great start to any bluewater cruise. Yachts coming from the UK and northern Europe can get used to liveaboard cruising with Rally Portugal en route to the Canaries, if time allows. Crossing with the ARC enables crews and family to enjoy Christmas in the Caribbean, before taking five months to explore this rich cruising ground. From the excitement and colour of mardi gras in Trinidad to the tranquility and wildlife of the Tobago Keys, the Caribbean is the archetypal sailor's paradise. Leaving the Caribbean before the hurricane season, ARC Europe provides security for the return Atlantic crossing, and a chance to meet up with like-minded crews. Much more fun than shipping your yacht home!
From North America
For American yachts, the adventure begins in May with ARC Europe, joining the small and friendly fleet in the British Virgin Islands or in Bermuda. Making the north Atlantic crossing with new friends and full support is more enjoyable, and safer, than going it alone. We cruise the Azores archipelago before bringing you to Portugal in June, ready for a summer cruising Europe. Whether you choose to explore the ports and islands of western Europe, or head for the Mediterranean, you have five months of classic cruising ahead of the return Atlantic voyage with the ARC. Crossing with the ARC is a completely different affair - lots of boats, lots of fun - a real once in a lifetime event.
