1769NM to go!

So we have made solid progress today moving to more Westerly direction still trying to avoid the weather or rather the Blue areas of no wind. The rollers are building behind so getting some good surf speed in at the moment just under white sails as the wind has improved to a more steady 15-19 knots. Swell is still a little broken and confused but
certainly more regular than it has been.

First thing this morning there was what looked to be an aircraft carrier on the horizon and around 5 boats in the area with mast lights. We have lost sight of them over the day so don't know if they are ahead or we managed to pass them yet.

The skipper got a shower earlier although it hadn't been requested a bucket of warm sea water dumped over him to keep him cool in the weather. The pattern breaks up the day well. Tonight is sausage and pasta at the moment. Last night was sausage and mash with beans and onion gravy knocked up from scratch by Nick. It came rather timely after
the question 'what would your last meal be'. Mine is pretty much that although I would have added peas too just because. No Eton Mess to go with it though!

Power is the main issue we have on board. The batteries are pretty much done in. Its not a problem as such as we can start the engine to charge twice a day and to run the water maker. All tanks are full and have spare on board as well so that's all good. Just limits the showers :0) The solar panel's keep it topped up during the day too so its just overnight the voltage drops right down. The fridge is obviously power hungry and we are keeping most the instrument's off and just leaving the nav lights and VHF on plus the compass light. There is something quite nice about going back to basic navigation and instruments.

On the chart we have also passed a crease in the page so we are now have blue all the way across. When we get close to the edge there is only a few hundred miles to go so looking forward to the next page turner!

2 hrs until the next watch and tea before dark and sunset at the wheel. I will then grab a sleep before the early hours shift and another great sunrise.
