Silver Slipper - Silver Slipper and 1000 miles
Silver Slipper. Well the Silver Slipper achieved 1000 miles today at17.05 on 2nd December. The first 1000 miles has been full of greatmemories. Only one night of 6/7’s and some confused seas but on the whole thesailing has been great. We went south/south east from Las Palmas and followedthe African coast and then headed west to the Cape Verdes. After motoring for around 100 hours inthe first week we decided to put into Mindelo and top up our fuel tanks. Wespent last night, 1st December hove too just off Sao Nicolau and setoff this morning motor sailing to Mindelo to try and arrive at the fuel dock atdaybreak. What a good decision that was. 8.30am and we were the first yacht tobe refuelled. We said, our hellos to many friend already in port and many othersjust arriving for the same.

Silver Slipper - Silver Slipper Day 5
Day 5 on the Silver Slipper. Sorry that we have been soquiet onboard but we are having too much fun. At 09.47 this morning we had done500 miles. Our course is very erratic if you are following us on yellow brick aswe are chasing the wind and intend to go south round the east of the Cape Verdesand try and catch some Easterlies to St Lucia, a long way round but its wherethe wind seems to be. Although disappointed with the lack of wind and no signof the trade winds, we have managed to keep our spirits up by catching fish, swimming in the Atlantic, candle light (torch) suppers becalmed as the sunsets, flying kites off the stern, making silly home movies, learning to play theguitar, cooking, telling jokes and generally having a great time. Not the sortof sailing we had all planned and dreamed.
