Weohgi - Are we nearly there yet?

Yes!! We over took Madelaine in the night and Kiss is somewhere around - stealth mode on! We are taking avoiding action at the moment as there are big squalls around with Cu Nims!We hope to get there tomorrow am - it depends on these squalls -it rained most of last night -apart from alans watch!Enjoyed our roast last night even though it nearly landed on the floor several times due to the big waves! Left overs for lunch -yum! the boys have thought of a new tv games show- How to wash up whilst everything is on a wobble board or roller skates! They think it will catch on! Hopefully the next blog will be from Rodney Bay!!Love and big hugsAvryl Alan Colin and Andy xxx. read more...

Weohgi - Starry Starry Night, Paint your palette Blue and Gold!

We have been privileged to have mostly wonderful starry and moon lit nights on this voyage - with the occasional midnight squall - Alan's turn last night! We have had a full moon which is now waning but the stars and shooting stars are brilliant!Hi Ho Silver lining - every where you go! Squally clouds with blue skies, and its getting hotter!Andy and Colin managed at last to get the spare water into the main tank - a sterling effort - filmed by ace cameraman Alan! A riveting watch?Rollin Home! Less than 300nm to go which means we should be there Tuesday day time!!We had one of our fastest sails in the last 24hrs due to the extra large seas!! We are still rockin' and Rollin' along at 8kts!We are playing " Kiss Chase" at the moment as we are being followed closely 10nm by "It started with a. read more...

Weohgi - Life on the Ocean Waves!

We thought we had passed the biggest waves but they seem to have caught up with us! The wind is coming more from the south so we had - shock -horror- to do a sail change today! Its the 1st time since Mindelo that we have had the pole out on the port side and the main on the starboard. We have a better direction but the wave action corkscrews us around a bit!!!We have been very surprised and slightly disappointed at the lack of sea life on our journey. The life on the ocean waves that we have been entertained by are:Flying fish- extremely good at gliding but usually crash land into the waves- or Weohgi - Just last night one landed in the cockpit - Colin went to catch it but it leapt away towards the cockpit hatch of our berth- luckily for Alan and the fish ( Oh how he would have laughed. read more...

Weohgi - 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock 3 o'clock rock etc

We're going to rock around the clock tonight- and every night until we reach St Lucia! We are fine - less than 815nm to go - easy peasy. We feel we're on the homeward bound course now. The boat is doing well. Daily chaffing inspections seem to be going well. Cruising down the waves at an average of 7knots so far so good. We think we are about 1/2 way in the fleet. The daily reports we get are useless unless you put them in a spread sheet - Alan did that once on the 1st leg! He found it too wobbly and 'icky at the chart table.A few back twinges for a few of the over 60's but I think that is mainly due to not being able to rest properly. Ibuprofen for pud! We are all getting along fine but are looking forward to St Lucia - started reading the travel guides now-what confidence! Not long until. read more...

Weohgi - "Every boat goes Surfing, Surfing the Atlantic" to the beach boys tune!

We're surfing well- Big waves 3++m reducing to 2+m later. We had a rope , fender and the cruising chute all wash of the deck early this morning - so everybody was on deck by 7.30. All were fortunately still attached to the boat so we were able to rescue them and tie them more securely! We were trying to take photos of us surfing -The description I came up with was skiing related. It reminds me of taking a nice ski lift to the top of the mountain ( When you're Rocking All over the world) only to be faced with a sheer black run, then there is no choice but to go "Slip, Sliding away, " as Simon and Garfunkel put it!The sun is still shining. We are doing well on water. We should be half way tomorrow so we may treat ourselves to a shower!Love and hugs to allAvryl Alan Colin and Andy xxxx. read more...
