Exhale - light airs 30-11-16

Back online today with wind after two days of little or no wind but glorious sunshine and spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Also success on the fishing front with a big dorado. Skipper has also trained flying fish to hit the helm on the back of the head to keep him awake!The light wind allowed time for running repairs and even a few trips up the mast to ensure everything is ok. We made a decision to try to sail all the way so progress was very slow for the last few days.Unfortunately Minerva of Kip was dismasted last night and we diverted back south east to assist and transfer some diesel to them. All her crew are fine.We are back on track now making good progress even though in a head wind.Photos to follow. read more...

Exhale - Happy Crew

Day five and still moving along at 5 to 7 kts. Keeping a close eye on our fellow Corkonians on the race (rally) track with just 9 miles difference in dtd (we are ahead!). Crew all happy having been served lunch by the skipper. Despite best efforts fish are scarce.. read more...

Exhale - Too little or too much

Having spent yesterday looking for wind with very little success and a lot of sail trimming for most of the day, wind arrived about 5am this morning and just like home it was on the nose. So expected downwind sailing is on hold for the moment. Settling in to a building sea and squalls but now cracked off doing 9 Kts through the water with two reefs in the main.
