I wish I could send a picture of my best friend "Chuck". He's a very blue bucket with a smiley face. Liberty - Birthday Party and Flying Squid

Siun writes: Today is PDog's birthday so as a treat for him we will allow him extra hourson watch! Birthday cake and candles tonight and much silliness required for theday. I may even learn how to upload photos today but no promises.. I spent most of the day yesterday learning how to send an email and downloadgribs...I thought folks went sailing to get away from all of this stuff! Flying fish on deck this morning which I did not have the heart to cook. Alsofound a flying squid....is that a well known species? Do squid really jump outif the sea and onto decks of boats?? It has been a quiet night with light winds again. HINT No 2 For ARC KIDSHAh, another tactic sorted today. It is very important to show greatinterest in all things boaty which distracts the parents and then theyforget the school work. I tested this today with the Sextant. It tookthem quite a while to explain, in fact they did not lose interest untilwell after lunchtime when the sun was dipping . They were delighted thatoffspring was enthusiastic about sunsights and rolling horizons. Liberty - If ITs Not One Thing.....

22 38N 27 36W Well a fantastic days sail was had, beautiful sunshine and20 to 22 knots wind. Weran the Fisher Panda for a while whilst playingon the PC with SSB and Modem and bang! off went the generator. We allpiled into the bilges again (as we seem to do a lot onLiberty)..checked the oil and POP, the lid from the oil filler wentflying, can we find it? Of course we can,t.No we do not have anyone onboard with 3metre arms who can reach under the generator to find the topand Michael Phelps is not available..we are thinking about sending10Year Old down there tomorrow to see if he can find it..No coolingwater going into the generator so in good eco friendly fashion we willbe depending fully on Duogen ( the water propellor generator) whichshould curtail our playing on the PC and SSB. read more...

Liberty - 30/11th Confession time and Joy

We have been battling with lack of power for the last 24 (Sorry Rally Control.no position given.!) POsition now 19 32 North 35 30 west Duogen did not seem to be doing it's thing. Altenator from engine not performing as we thought it should and the generator not working - overheating. We were on rations (power rations) for the last few watches but all is well. NOt sure where it all went pear shaped but think it might have been the monitors between the generators, the engine and the Duogen. I steered for 5 hours and was a bit tetchy for the next five.What did I get wrong this time? Well having checked the long neglected sea cock for the generator inlet we found that it had given up the ghost. All my fault..I had checked it month ago when we were on the hard, but had not given it due. read more...
