Victory Too - First day at sea
Today was the BIG START. An exciting moment to see 200+ yacht fight to be the first one crossing the starting line on a 2700 nm race. We set our new Parasailor and went down along the coast of the Canary Island making 9-10 knots, topping at 12.5 , and having a very stable ride. The sail exceeded our expectations, judging from the smile of our skipper, who is a seasoned spinnaker sailor. The crew is all happy to leave the dock and be on our way over. Expectations are at top and we will soon be served our first meal at sea.Victory Too/Gertskipper_at_helm.

Victory Too - Busy Monday morning
091123First full day at sea provided good sailing with 8,5 knots average speed. The morning provided some excitement since the outhaul for the main sail gave away at 05:15 am. Since we were sailing downwind, this meant the sail was clinging on to the rig in 25-30 knots of wind. All hands on deck resulted in 15 minutes later we were on our way again with all sails in order. We had to use the engine for 15 minutes, which gives some penalty, but was well worth it to be able to save the main sail. The only casualty from this accident was small squid, found dead on deck.Things are getting settled. We are getting used to the pace of the swinging. It?s easier to sleep and the crew are in very good spirits and excited being outside the coast of Africa on our way to St Lucia. ARC participant 129.

Victory Too - Water and hard bread

Today we had a very tasty salmon with a cheese sauce a sip of Rioja in the sunset. All the good food calls for exercising which is best done using the small portable pedal trainer and a good book on aft deck.During the night we enjoyed the moonlight into our Parasailor, and a few dolphins that followed along.Another day at work…The big question for today have been: when and how do we adjust to the new time zone we just passed, or do we? The decision was to go Spanish and solve that tomorrow. It’s funny how you get decoupled from everyday questions and efficiency when at sea for a stretch of.
