Knightime - Day 2 - Keep on Running

As promised in yesterday's taster, we can now introduce our other players, in no particular order:One late and unexpected change was Kit-Hoff who decided to B-'Off instead and leave the Gallant Knightrider, undermanned and over supplied. Luckily for all, one, C.J. Hoffapopoulous, the well known Lymington Shipping Magnate stepped in and on, as a permanent player in our boating extravaganza across the Big Blue Wobbly thing. We also have Chief Medical Hofficer ''The Doc'', Steve, ''It's life, Hoff, but not as we know it''.  Medical Hoff keeps a nice rubber glove at the ready to deter malingerers. So far though, he has sadly, not been able to cure our final player's insomnia. Peter Hoffer-Dommer has not slept a wink so far and his youthful, vibrant good looks have deteriorated somewhat in. read more...

Knightime - Day 3: Ruby Wednesday

Greetings Dear readers from Knightrider HQ. All aboard are well and happy, and replete with a fine curry in the cockpit near sunset, thanks to CJ Hoffopopoulous. It's been another day of great sailing with sunshine all day and wind 17-21kts allowing us to munch those miles. Last night we had a fine run with the boat touching 10kts and winds up to 24.5 the result was our current best 2 hours run, 17 miles between 0000 and 0200. Tonight, at the time of writing, the seas are much calmer and we are still running wing and wing at 7 to 8 kts.The half moon is shining brightly above us and showing a spectacular halo. Not a single sighting today, except for a stowaway caterpillar who was enjoying a fine cauliflower until discovered and made to walk the plank! Tonights pic shows Peter. read more...

Knightime - The First 24 hours - Hoff and the Knightrider Team

Well at last, the beginning of the Great Adventure - ARC 2009, the culmination of three months work and an eighteen hundred mile delivery trip from UK to Las Palmas, via Lagos, Portugal and Lanzaote in The Canaries. We were sad to say farewell to Valerie, Lucy and Millie who had all travelled out from UK to LP and been a great support team - I can'tthank you enough for all of your assistance in getting us to the start line, fully victualled and in great shape for the Atlantic crossing ahead. As we cast off, a Marching Band stood on the pontoon playing a renditition of 'Happy Birthday To You', to celebrate Kitt's (otherwise known as Captain Rick) Birthday which happened to coincide with 'Race Day'. All the red lights went out and we scorched away from the grid, not exactly from pole. read more...

Knightime - Day 4 - Insanity Sets In

As Nurse due to owning a rubber glove and therefore Chief Medic I now wish to resign and go home immediately.  This is for three reasons.  First as I am also Chief Psychiatrist I can confirm that the rest of the crew are quite mad. Skipper Hoff is taking a roundabout route to avoid falling into the Atlantic Trench, Captain Rick is showing an unhealthy interest in sharp objects such as screwdrivers, Hoffadommer (Peter) has given up smoking, Hoffapopolous (CJ) is going around smiling at everybody, and CHhof (Mogul Mike) is pretending to be a woman by multitasking such as cooking and losing weight at the same time. My second reason is that I do not want to use up my rubber glove in assisting the crew to relieve their constipation. That reminds me, I have noticed that there is more wind in. read more...

Knightime - Day 5 Knightrider Bulletin - Good Winds and Bad Smells

Ahoy, Ahoy, Dear Readers and warm greetings from the Knightriders.Sad to report another No Sightings day, but a sunny one and with goods winds. Our clocks went back an hour today and our brains are slowly adjusting. For some days now there has been an offensive smell reported close to the First Class berths and investigations had proved fruitless. However, today the culprit was found and happily turned out to be 2 heads of what used to be broccoli, rotting quietly in their little corner of heaven, and imitating quite well the other kind of heads.... I say 'happily' because I was beginning to fear it was we, the crew, who were causing the problem! Phew! in more ways than one.Our watchkeeping plan is going well and strangely, the huge alteration in daily sleep patterns seems to have been. read more...
