Let It Be - Log Day 4 Hurray
Well after 4 days at sea with all at home thinking we had gone mad and going the wrong way we hope to prove to the contrary. Being routed more east and southerly has kept us in the breeze to get south before the predicted depression coming from the north arrives. As of 1000 25/11 we are tramping along at over 7knts making 253COG. So what have we been up to- well the main halyard came away at dust on the first evening ! - using the topping liftwe on our way again in 40 mins good crew work. Excitement came the next day when on launching the Chute the halyard snap shackle did not engage correctly and up to the top of the mast it went wrapping around the back stay. Let It Be - Day 7 To CV or not to CV- That is the Question
Light winds sadly remain the name of the game. Had a very quiet night but this morning with the Cruising Chute acting as a large genoa we are managing nearly 6 kts in 6 kts true at 60 to the wind!! Or fuel level is still good we have spoken to a number of the fleet that are stopping in CV to take on extra. So far we have got though around 95 litres which equates to around 3per hr which is pretty good. We wait to see what we will do but will avoid is poss. No fish again apart from the one that got away yesterday another this morning! Could Graham Milward arrange a LIDL delivery of Gin and wine please as running low! Matts beard is coming along although as soon as we get a breeze it seems to blow off!! Had strange meeting during night with unidentifiable craft that came with in a few.

Yesterday at about 1230 UTC our alternator told us it was the cause and promptly stopped working. The thought of not being able to generate power did not sit well with the distance still in front of us. We had earlier been talking on VHF to the yacht Wind of Gothenberg who seemed the only boat for miles. The skipper made a call again to them stating our problem and rather in jest asked if they happened to have a spare alternator!! Yes came the reply and to our absolute amazement it was a direct replacement. The Yacht Wind of Gothenberg consulted skipper and crew we were offered the part and they made way towards us. Meeting in the middle.
