Karinya - Real life goings on
OK,so you have had the technical information from Tim, now i am going to give you a little description of what life is really like in a washing machine.Callum has had his pjymas on now for 48 hours, neither the kids have made it to brush their teeth for 2 days. they only get off the sofa if they need a pee or to change films, or if i force them into the cockpit to get some fresh air. They are generally managing but are fed up of the rolling. This rolling, let me try to sumise what it is really like. Stand on a wobble board or a piece of square wood supported by a ball underneath. now try walking forwards, trow some water into your face, wind so that you cant move, then try to drink or eat! The boat moves for and back, side to side and sort of corkscrews all at the same time. If you fill.

Karinya - Karinya last 72 hrs
This morning was quite disheartning onboard, very little wind a strong front coming in 2 days and not making much progress. We once again decided to head straight for St Lucia (we backed south earlier to no avail) and handle the high winds when they arrive, if they arrive. All the boats are having atough time and 20 days will look good for crossing this year. On the net this morning, some boats are having to pull into Cape Verde to fill up on diesel. We still ok, have 3/4 tanks so just pushing along. No fish today...all our love20.02n 25.10wFor those of you who are not sailors, we should be sailing (under sail) in the "guaranteed" trade winds. In between bouts of sanity I have consulted the pilot charts. What these are, are the wind direction/speed/calms etc recorded by sailors since the.

Karinya - Light trades are hear (not a typo)
17.26n 32.45wHi AllWell we have some light trade winds at last. been sailing under main and spinnaker for the last 40 hours. Not sure how long they will last, but hopefully they will be replaced by stronger trades, not the SW on the nose winds we had last week.We have 1600 nm left and expect to be in by the 14th (I was tempted to say latest) We have made 1200 miles good (that means as the crow flies) But probably done about 1700 NM with all the detours for wind.So life aboard is good, we more relaxed so the kids get more time. Yesterday we brought out the piano and played (badly) for 3 hours. I still have not got the saxophone out, I think everyone needs to be in a great mood to tolerate me on that. Vicki made some awesome bread and rolls so Hamburger and chips could be on the menu.

Karinya - 180 degreess
Hi All Yes I can hear everyone saying, "the Schofields have become so boring since they left the UK" They used to be relatively interesting, we could discuss sport (especially rugby), world politics, business, high street shopping and even religion, but now all they seem to talk about is THE WEATHER. "Don't think we will invite them to the next dinner party unless those boring work colleagues come" Well in our defense, it's not the weather, it's the wind! (yes a specialist topic for 10) I look at it as the 180 degree rule now. For ease and keeping weather as the main topic I'm going to call these fronts. Warm front: (WF) Wind Easterly boat heading West waves behind good speedCold Front (CF) Winds westerly boat trying westerly washing machineWF: Sailing at 7 kts hatches.

Karinya - Hot arse
15.12N 51.52w Hi All Big smiles on board this morning as we hit a record for the day, 172 miles. Then the 2nd smile came this afternoon, we have broken the 500 nm to go!We doing a decent 7kts VMG, but the seas are quite bouncy, Vicki was baking bread and Callum wanted a drink, then we hit a huge bump, the bottle was going everywhere and Vicki saved the bottle by leaning her bum against... you guessed it! Sunday during the day is looking good, lets hope the wind stays and the seas go All our Love Tim Vicki Cal and Jess.
