Chilli Chilli - and then it was all over....

Not sure if anyone is still reading the blogs but i felt as though I had tomake a final entry due to our rather abrupt departure from the Daily Blogs acouple of weeks ago.   The reason for the abrupt departure was that, 24 hours out of St Lucia ourIridium minutes ran out! We did buy some more but what they did not tell us wasthat the account would take 24 hours to be credited! Not a lot of use.   Anyway, about 350 miles off St Lucia we had a choice to make. The GRIBfiles showed very little wind over the 48-72 hours between us and St Lucia. Theboat speed had dropped down to about 4 knots. We could motor the final stretchwhich would get us in within 48 hours and take the hit in placings with themotoring penalty. We had plenty of fuel and the WAGS and rum punches werealready in St. read more...

Chilli Chilli - Monday Blues? Nah

Hi all All going very well on Chilli, a few minor mishaps but nothing life threatening. Found that the freezer had been switched onto ‘fridge’ mode so all remaining meat had to be eaten asap. Not too much of a problem as we were getting to the bottom of the barrel anyway. Not surprisingly though, there is still just one more of Heston’s Lamb Tagine left. Strangely enough, the lads seemed quite delighted when it was put to them that we may have to resort to the Frey Bentos pies before we get to St Lucia.   We seem to have somehow used up all our tank water. Suspect Gorgeous George has been having secret midnight showers. No dramas, whilst counting up the amount of bottled water we have left we find another slab of beers so all's well that ends well.   A strange. read more...

Chilli Chilli - Saturday

So this Saturday, instead of watching rugby on cold terraces, shopping with the Mrs or skiving down at the pub, we are racing through paradise. Usual stuff that I’m sure you have read on other blogs. Blue waters, rolling waves, perfect winds, stunning fishing blah blah blah.   However, one of those things is not applicable to Chilli Chilli and that is fishing. It would appear that our only two ‘fisherman’ had been blagging each other with their abilities and neither of them know which end to reel in or which end the fish is supposed to bite! They currently have more fishing gear than the Deadliest Catch spread all over the cockpit and have no idea which bits go in the sea! Looks like chicken again tonight!   I will now pass you over to Gorgeous Gorge.  . read more...

Chilli Chilli - Friday

Good day all   So here we are on Friday, looking forward to the weekend after a hard week at the wheel steering Chilli Chilli down the big waves and ever onwards towards St Lucia.   Bag of a fag packet calculations have us getting to Rodney Bay sometime on Wednesday but anything could happen between now and then.   It has been noted that the Chilli Chilli daily blogs have no information about the sailing, seas, position or sail configurations. This has been done deliberately as it was felt that most blogs contained all this information so you read one, you have read them all. Instead we give you a brief insight into other nonsense like Ladies Night.   For some reason we seem to have had a bit of a change around with the sleeping accommodation onboard Chilli, not sure. read more...

Chilli Chilli - The meniscus of the G and T

Day 85 at sea and still no sight of land. There has, however, been strange sightings on the good ship Chilli-Chilli. Six unattractive mermaids dressed in ladies evening attire gathered for a ladies night in mid Atlantic on Tuesday. With makeup straight from The Joker and hairstyles ranging from a purple beehive on a big bruiser called Tim R to a modern blond bob on petite and elderly Tim U the evening started quite normal (as normal as one could be expect from 6 middle aged transvestites in mid Atlantic) A few G and T’s and a ripped dress later the biggest challenge was to keep the meniscus of the G and Ts from reaching the rim of our glasses  and spilling in the large swell, and the hair from the wigs out of our faces. A very amusing night had by all.   With just. read more...
