ELEPHANTS R US!
Ian
and I went off shopping with Made in the morning. Ian bought some new speakers
and got my loo seat welded and I went to Makro for some provisions on Made?s
advice being cheaper than Carrefour. However I was not impressed and we ended up
back at Carrefour in the evening.
In
the afternoon an elephant ride, only short at half an hour, but we all really
enjoyed it! Ian and I had an elephant called Mary and a driver called Andy! Andy
informed us that Mary eats 200 kg of fodder a day and drinks 50 litres of water!
It?s raining quite a lot today and driving is made even harder on the dodgem
tracks of motorbikes, mopeds and idiot drivers. Fortunately Made is a good
careful driver. He only earns money when he is offered work such as ours, but
cannot afford to buy his own vehicle and like all Indonesians has no pension or
National Health Service!
Some
of our number are in search of Xmas presents and we stop by 2 more silver shops
on the way back. The first is just staggering! The opulence, the layout, the
displays, the attention of the staff. Perfection in marketing! So good, I almost
bought something myself!
Made
takes us to another seafood restaurant this evening. First impressions were not
good, but in the end I ordered the large prawns, which were barbequed in a spicy
sauce and delicious!
Another good day in Bali!
