Why World Cruising Club?

Safety

We take your safety very seriously. Each boat must carry specific safety and communications equipment, which we check before the rally starts. We also require sailing experience and recommend crew training. At sea, we provide 24-7 cover.

Support

The yellow shirt team are there to help in port and 24-7 while you’re at sea. Even before you leave home, we help you with a comprehensive rally handbook and monthly emails, and a calendar of shoreside events.

Friendship

Our rallies attract people from more than 40 nations, aged from babies to the over 80s. The fleet is like a floating village, with friendships forged at the social events, on the docks and at sea lasting a cruising lifetime.

Fun

Rallies are all about enriching your sailing experience, taking the stress out of pre-departure preparations and celebrating your ocean crossing achievement. Each rally is different, but there's always a strong social element to foster friendships.

We Care

Like our sailors, we want to give back to the communities we visit. Our Positive Impact Fund is a charity that helps local organisations on our routes, building on years of supporting the ARC Forest project in Gran Canaria.

Discover Your Next Adventure!

People join a World Cruising Club rally for the security and peace of mind of an organised event. For the camaraderie and friendship of a group of like-minded people, and for the fun of sailing in a fleet.

Our professional and friendly team are always on hand to help, whether you’re taking part in a rally or still planning and dreaming.

Even before you set sail, we’re on hand to help with your planning and preparations with a comprehensive rally handbook and monthly updates, plus seminars and shoreside knowledge-sharing events.

As we say, it’s your adventure, supported by us.

Your Safety

The role of a rally organiser is to provide a safe framework for participants and to provide them with the information they need to make safe decisions for their boat and crew.

We don’t sail the boat, you do. But sailing the ocean is different from local cruising, and there is a first time for everyone.

We require all boats to carry a minimum level of safety and communications equipment. Our Safety Equipment Requirements are based on World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations and our years of experience helping over 8,000 boats and 40,000 sailors to cross the Atlantic over the last 40+ years.

We check every boat before departure. We don’t just check that you have the equipment, but that it is installed appropriately, available for use and that you and your crew know how to use it.

Sailing in a fleet of boats isn’t a guarantee of safety (it’s a big ocean), but the friends you make during the rally onshore activities will be the ones who can offer advice or maybe even provide assistance. And the rally team are available 24-7 to provide professional support and liaison with the authorities if needed.

Social Sailing

Sailors describe the rally experience using words like fellowship, camaraderie, friendly. After safety, making friends and having fun are the most important element of joining a rally. This is your free time, your dream and adventure – it should be one of your most cherished memories.

In port, you’ll be moored with other rally boats, and we try to keep similar boats or those with kids together. You can chat with and get to know your neighbours.

The shoreside schedule is different for every rally, but always includes sundowners or evening drinks for crews to unwind after a day working on the boat, and a prizegiving at the end. Our rallies aren’t about being the fastest – we also celebrate acts of kindness and seamanship, the people who get the party started and those who go out of their way to help.

Our Experience

Since the very first ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) in 1986, World Cruising Club has been helping sailors to achieve their dreams of sailing the oceans.

Our contacts in cruising destinations are second to none, ensuring a seamless experience for you. We arrange moorings and memorable experiences. We know the right people for spares and repairs, the best bars and supermarkets and the most beautiful sunsets.

Every year 450 boats with over 1,600 people sail on a World Cruising Club rally, and we want everyone to have an amazing and memorable experience.
