ARC

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia

The ARC is the original transocean rally for cruising yachts. Around 150 boats set sail every year in November, sailing from Las Palmas on the island of Gran Canaria to Rodney Bay on Saint Lucia.

The rally attracts people of all ages and nationalities, sailing monohulls, multihulls and even motor boats from 27 feet to 100 feet (8.23m-32m). Over 8,000 boats have sailed with us to the Caribbean since the first ARC in 1986.

The 2,700NM Atlantic crossing takes around 18-21 days for the average yacht. The record is 8 days and six hours, set by the maxi Rambler 88 (USA) in 2016.

Rally Ports & Destinations

Gran Canaria

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is the ideal departure point for an Atlantic crossing, with all the marine services and shoreside facilities you'll need.

Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia's iconic Pitons make for a dramatic landfall, and IGY Rodney Bay Marina is a friendly, full-service marina with a warm Lucian welcome.

Shoreside Activities

Before the fleet sets sail, there is a busy programme of events in Las Palmas to celebrate your adventure and to help sailors to meet and mingle. Highlights include the flag parade, costume party and safety demonstration. Our advice - get there in good time for all the fun!

In Saint Lucia, there are social events and the final rally prizegiving.

Kids' Club

Families sailing with children will be docked together in the marina to help the kids (and parents!) make friends. Children aged 6-16 can join the kids' club in the week of departure as part of their crew entry fee. Kids' club activities include sailing and watersports, and visits to local attractions, like the aquarium.

Racing Division

The ARC is the only World Cruising Club rally with a division for IRC racing monohulls. This unique ‘race within a rally’ attracts crews planning a competitive Caribbean regatta season.

Racing division yachts can't motor and must comply with World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations Category 1 and the Racing Rules of Sailing. Boats must have a valid IRC certificate. Read the 2025 Nortice of Race.

Costs

The entry fee for ARC is a boat fee based on length overall, and a crew fee for every person onboard. Multihulls and racing division yachts pay a supplement.

As an example, the 2026 cost for a 13.2m (43 feet) yacht is £1500 plus £185 crew fee per person. Children aged 6-16 are £150, and younger children are free.
